After decades, those emergency window seals are crushed and likely not doing such a great job. This is a great project for annual or anytime you find the window seals cracked, leaking or creating wind noise in the cabin.

Emergency Window Seal Pirep

When I was doing my research I found great info on door seal installation but not so much about the rear seat, emergency exit windows. While I'm going to do them all, the emergency exits are top priority because years ago someone used an automotive type double sided seal that stuck the windows in place. Stuck emergency windows are not ideal and I'm embarrassed i didn't realize it earlier.

Guy's instructions call for removing the old adhesive and doing so is a slow process. I found the best progress was made by starting with a razor blade to shave off as much old adhesive as I could then I used a 1/2" strip of Scotch-Brite with a few drops of Goo-Gone that I got from Home Depot. It's still slow but patience pays. As you can probably tell from my pictures, I removed the windows to make access easier and because there is seal material stuck on the window side. (Most installations shouldn't have this issue if the correct seals were always used.)

Oh, one other tip. Mixing the two part adhesive that Guy includes is done at the ratio of 1oz adhesive to 1 drop accelerant (PS: Guys little bottle of clear silicone cement is 2 ounces). I thought a small plastic food service type container would be perfect for mixing small batches. Not so, 30 seconds after combining them the bottom of my container dropped out leaving me with a sticky mess on the hangar floor. Guy suggested a clean cut Coke can and that proved to work perfectly. Mixing the glue and applying it to both surfaces was done with a disposable acid brush also from Home Depot.
